A beautiful early Autumn wedding at Woodland Waters in Ancaster.

Stacey and Jim where married at Woodland Waters in September on a beautiful early autumn day. This was a wedding I was very much looking forward to shooting as previously I have shot both pregnancy and new born photos for Stacey over two years ago. This is one of my favourite aspects of being a wedding photographer in that I have the opportunity to document a family’s biggest moments. It is lovely to be asked to shoot weddings, pregnancy and new born photos for the same family, it shows I must be doing something right.

Anyway on with the wedding.

Bridal Preparation.

I do love shooting at Woodland Waters. I have shot there on a number of occasions and theer is so much lovely outdoor space to take advantage of. One day I may even take the fishing rods with me too for a quick session while food is served. The day started as always with bridal preparation with Stacey and I have to say she looked stunning and with a beautiful tiara sitting on her head she looked every inch the beautiful bride. Once Dusty, Stacey’s great uncle, had seen her in her wedding dress for the first time and everyone had managed to dry their eyes, it was time for portraits. I always look for natural window light when it comes to bridal portrait to achieve the most flattering and beautiful images and I am super happy with these portraits.

Once these where finished it was a short drive to St Denys church in Sleaford for the ceremony.

The Ceremony.

St Denys is a big old church in the centre of Sleaford, very atmospheric. I just had time for a quick hello with Jimv and a couple of quick portraits while I awaited Stacey arrival.

Family is so important to Stacey and Jim and I knew a priority for the photography from the day was to ensure I had plenty of great photos of the girls Edith and Sybil. The light was beautiful in the church and I managed to get some lovely portraits of the girls as I waited for Stacey, no easy task when they stand still for approximately 1/1000 of a second at a time.

Stacey and Dusty arrived perfectly on time so now on with the ceremony, Ill let my photos speak for that part of the day.

Favourite image from the day.

I asked Stacey & Jim what their favourite image from the day was. They told me it was the photo that I took of the two of them in the doorway of the church with the stained glass above them. Stacey says it has such a romantic charm to it and shows the beauty of the church too. Nice choice Stacey.

Woodland Waters.

I asked Stacey & Jim what they where both looking forward to most on the day. They told me that it would be celebrating with friends and family who had helped and supported them and had witnessed their relationship grow and develop over the year and sharing this day with them was so important to both Stacey & Jim. Consequently there where a number of important group and family photos to shoot on the day. Phew, its a bit like herding cats at times but we got there as we always do. First though I wanted to get some lovely shots of bride and groom with their two lovely girls and the vintage car that they had arrived at Woodland waters in, not forgetting Betsy the dog too.

Bride & Groom Portraits.

I have already mentioned how much lovely space there is to shoot atWoodland Waters, you just have to make sure you are not getting any campers or fisherman in the shots. There is one particular spot I do love to shoot at here and I hav eshot there before. There is a small hill surrounded by trees and I do love to shoot my bride and groom here from a low perspective and I can get the couple in a great position so they are naturally framed by trees and leaves. It’s  a lovely shot and with the sun in the right position I can achieve a really beautiful silhouette shot, very lovely.

We then shot some lovely natural portraits of Stacey and Jim just enjoying each others company and being themselves. I love this technique of shooting bride and groom portraits, just have a walk and a cuddle and let me shoot away. It results in a great sequence of images that have a really natural and organic feel to them.

Speeches and Evening Entertainment.

With dinner all wrapped up it was time for some lovely and heartfelt speeches. Again a great time for me to focus on the guests and create a great collection of images of friends and family enjoying the day.
