Jazz & Davids Gorgeous Summer Wedding at Doddington Hall.
This was a day filled with laughter, love and entertainment and was a first wedding I had shot at the very lovely Doddington Hall https://www.doddingtonhall.com/weddings/ for many years. I am a good friend of Jazz’s dad Gary having known him for many years. I also got to know David very well since Jazz booked me for the wedding over two years ago, so discovering he was a big Arsenal fan I just knew we where all going to get along very well. This was a wedding I was very much looking forward to shoot and it certainly did not disappoint.
Bridal Preparation.
The day started, as nearly all my weddings do, with bridal preparation. Once Jazz was ready she looked absolutely stunning and was one of the easiest brides I have had the pleasure of shooting. Every image I produced Jazz looked radiant with flawless hair and make up.

It was then time for the big reveals as neither the bridesmaids or Gary, Jazz’s dad had seen her in her wedding dress before, cue lots of emotion. First up it was the bride squad and the reactions of all her close friends was just an amazing moment to photograph, even if the pageboys looked a little bemused by the whole affair.

It was then time to bring in Gary for his big moment and his first look at Jazz in her wedding dress. I just love shooting moments such as these, for me this is the key to great quality wedding photography, capturing emotion and making those big moments permanent. I love Gary’s reaction in these photographs – such beautiful images.

The details.
Jazz’s creativity certainly stood out on the wedding day as much of the decor and details where created by herself. Gary also made his DIY skills evident with a beautiful handmade traditional Thai swing that was a great prop for pictures. Also on display was a hand made display with lots of clocks on displaying key timings of the day, very original I must say.

The Ceremony.
I asked Jazz and David why they had chosen Doddington Hall as a venue for their wedding. She told me that she had always dreamed of getting married here. The grounds are beautiful and the hall itself makes for a perfect backdrop for family photos. It also boasts an outdoor ceremony space which was very important to Jazz and David as they both had their hearts set on an outdoor ceremony.
As it never rains in August the outdoor ceremony was never in doubt. If only this where true, I had an eye on BBC weather all morning and I must admit it was looking a bit touch and go at one point, with Justine the very lovely wedding planner at Doddington Hall very much in two minds if we could get the outdoor ceremony as rain was looking likely. Fortunately the wedding Gods where smiling on us and around 30 minutes before the ceremony was due to start bright sunshine appeared, phew back on with the all important outdoor ceremony.
This was one of the moments that Jazz was most looking forward to and a wonderful memory for her is walking down the aisle with dad Gary at her side and the bridesmaids ahead of her. Doddington Hall has such a fab outdoor ceremony space it really does lend itself well to great photography.

Group Photos.
Doddington Hall itself provides a stunning backdrop for photography so after the ceremony it was time for the family photos along with the confetti shot and some epic flowing veil shots.

I asked Jazz & David what was important to them both in terms of photography on the day. They both wanted the day to be captured in a natural style – just the way I like to shoot. They both wanted the all important family photos but not to spend too much time on these (Phew) and also to ensure that all the details where captured and to make sure thay also received some creative and imaginative photography of the two of them, sounds like my ideal wedding.
Favourite Photos.
When a bride & groom find it difficult to name a favourite image I know that I have done a good job. Personally I love an epic veil shot especially when shot on a very wide angle lens, it really does result in dramatic images. When pushed though Jazz did tell me that two of her favourite images are of the two of them on the steps of Doddington Hall and also the images by the famous Doddington Yew tree – great choices Jazz.

And of course I really must include the fantastic Shanti VW Camper Van wedding hire https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100069727869510

So after spending some quality time with Jazz & David so I could produce some really strong images of them both it was time to really let the hair down and enjoy the evening helped by the fantastic magician Ian Smith https://ijrmagic.co.uk/ and their evening band Outside In.

So that was my first wedding back at Doddington Hall for many years and I just cannot wait to shoot there again. If you are planning a wedding at this stunning Lincoln venue please do get in touch, I would love to hear about your exciting plans.
